But doctor doctor, how do I know which Birmingham hospital to go to?

As you can imagine there are more than a dozen hospitals across Birmingham to ensure each area – such as Solihull, Moseley, and Harborne – has a relatively close place to go to.

If you’ve decided to live in Corkfield, your nearest hospital is Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
When it first opened in 2010, it was the first hospital to open in the city in 70 years!
Located near the University of Birmingham and University railway station, it is – unsurprisingly – a university hospital. This means it is dedicated to teaching the next generation of doctors and nurses as well as research for medical cures.

Originally part of the Union Workhouse Infirmary, Solihull Hospital got a brand-new building in the 1990s.

Another hospital in Birmingham (specifically Edgbaston), The Priory is a private hospital.
It offers support and care for a wide range of medical needs and prides itself on using the latest technology and equipment.

As a community hospital, Moseley Hall specialises in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation.
Providing services for both inpatients and outpatients, you can visit this hospital for general medical and sub-acute care too.

Also located on University Campus, this hospital offers a range of services to over 50,000 women, children, and families every year.
The Birmingham Women and Children’s Hospital is a short distance from Corkfield.
So, if after a day out the kids get unwell or you need some medical assistance, you can rest assured knowing you’re not far from help at your three-bedroom apartment in Corkfield.

Opening this year, Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is set to become the centre of acute and emergency care.
According to them, it’s not just another hospital in Birmingham, it’s an amalgamation of expertise.

Yet another teaching hospital in Birmingham!
This time, it’s Sandwell District General Hospital located in, you guessed it, Sandwell.
The best bit?
This hospital has numerous bus stops – making it perfect for those who don’t drive.

Providing acute and general care for those in North Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield, Good Hope Hospital is one of Birmingham’s many hospitals.
There you will also find the Partnership Learning Centre – part-funded by the University of Birmingham’s Medical School – it’s yet another location where medical students can learn.
You can only hope they’ll actually learn something!

Also known as Dudley Road Hospital, the City Hospital is in the west of Birmingham.
There are rumours that it will be replaced by the previously mentioned Midland Metropolitan University, however, that is yet to open.

One of Birmingham’s private hospitals, The Harborne Hospital has a range of consultants who are experts in various conditions.

With dedicated emergency, pathology, and ENT departments, Heartlands Hospital has just that… heart!
This was the hospital where the world’s last smallpox patient was treated.
